Over the last decade Leah has also produced music theatre presentations telling stories of social importance through song, story and image, in partnership with festivals and venues and managing arts funding of over $250,000.
But this artist’s life was interrupted when her mother and brother, who had a long history of mental illnesses, lost capacity to live independently in the community. She subsequently began Masters research at the Queensland Conservatorium producing ‘The Pleasure of Sad Songs’, about which Katie Noonan has said: ‘…this is storytelling of real courage, authenticity and compassion…’ In 2016 Leah began her Doctor of Musical Arts program on an Australian Postgraduate Award Scholarship.

Episode 37: Freedom to Choose the People and Projects with Melissa Collins
Wednesday Oct 12, 2016
Wednesday Oct 12, 2016
Catherine Plano is here today with Melissa Collins. Melissa Collins grew up in Kedron in Brisbane when Kedron was a bit of a daggy place to live. The daughter of a detective, questions like: 'why', 'how', 'where' 'what' and 'when' usually had fascinating and sometimes gruesome answers, and this is how a storyteller was born.
With a voice once described as a 'big warm hug', Melissa got her start in commercial radio at a time when women were usually relegated to support roles in brekkie shows. Melissa insisted on having her own programs and continued to do just that for stations right across Queensland and New South Wales.
Melissa writes content with a passion for getting to the core of the subject with charm and authenticity, bringing out what is true for clients. As a fiction writer, she can say whatever she likes, and she does.

Episode 33: Fierce and Fabulous! with Nkandu Beltz
Wednesday Sep 14, 2016
Wednesday Sep 14, 2016
Julie-Anne Black is here today with Nkandu Beltz. Nkandu discovered from an early age that it's in these little acts of kindness that we each have the power to make a positive and lasting change in the world. For over two decades, this passionate human rights activist has been a voice for the voiceless, and has found the courage to stand up for those who could not stand up for themselves and yet she still has so much to give.
Growing up in Zambia, Nkandu was acutely aware of the social disparity she and many others faced. The injustice was overwhelming for the free spirited young girl, and not something she could easily ignore. Encouraged by her father to stand up for what she believed in, Nkandu began petitioning for girl child rights. She was just ten years old. Making change in the world is in everything she does. Nkandu is devoted to helping others live a better life. Her incredible journey has led her across the globe to Australia, where she now lives.

In 2015 she was named as one of the top 20 renowned speakers of Mind and Its Potential and was selected as a Young Social Pioneer with Foundation for Young Australians in 2012. She won the Pinnacle Professional of the Year Award in 2013 and the Women in Leadership Award in 2014.
Among her greatest accomplishments are the opportunities to meet and interview a number of important social leaders, including his Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Inspired by her mother's determination to provide for her family in a tough economic climate, Nkandu believes that we all have the power make the best of any situation. Throughout life, we are confronted by our own set of challenges, but it is how we choose to act in these situations that leads us to greatness. The key is never giving up. As a member of UN women, Nkandu is particularly passionate about empowering women with this message.
After sharing her own personal experience facing up to social injustice in her book I Have The Power, Nkandu brings us the Fierce & Fabulous series: Fierce & Fabulous The Feminine Force of Success and Fierce & Fabulous Phenomenal Women in Network Marketing. A third series is in the making.

Episode 29: Marrying Bipolar with Natasha David
Wednesday Aug 17, 2016
Wednesday Aug 17, 2016
Catherine Plano is here today with Natasha David. Sydneysider Natasha David explored many avenues of assistance to overcome the debilitating depression and anxiety she experienced following her husband's suicide in 2005. Meditation, the Buteyko breathing technique and kinesiology were some of the tools she explored in her recovery from grief and heartbreak. The latter proved so successful in enabling her to release the stress and internalised emotions from the trauma of losing her husband that Natasha became a certified kinesiology practitioner.
Natasha advocates meditation as a method to calm the distracting chatter that occurs in our heads during times of stress or trauma, known as 'monkey mind' in Buddhist teachings.
The cumulative result of these practices delivered Natasha to the point where she could write about her painful and difficult story with detachment and compassion. She believes love and empathy can overcome any trauma and can help bring understanding for those in pain and suffering.

Wednesday Jul 20, 2016
Wednesday Jul 20, 2016
Catherine Plano is here today with Rosanna Lauria, she helps busy people get back in control of their health and beat overwhelm so they can get more out of their professional and personal life.
Rosanna is a Corporate Wellness Advisor, Keynote Speaker, Facilitator and Founder of Recipe for Health, who partners with organisations to provide holistic education and resources for employees to achieve and maintain good mental and physical health. She also works with CEO's and Leaders to change risk culture and create a safe environment where employees can finally feel comfortable reaching out for support.
Studying holistic nutrition at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and becoming a qualified Yoga and Meditation Teacher through the Bodhi School of Yoga, she started incorporating changes into her diet and lifestyle that began to heal her body and restore her energy.
The mindset became one of Rosanna’s most fascinating topics to study, as she recognised in herself that as you change your mindset, take responsibility for your thoughts and behaviours and let go of limiting beliefs, your life begins to change for the better and you start to live life from the driver's seat.
Just as miraculous, she discovered that slowing down actually helps you speed up! In order to live a life full of adventure and success, one must slow down and refuel to then bring about greater energy, focus and an enhanced capacity to learn and grow.
As Rosanna discovered each ingredient for restoring health and balance, she began to pass on these enchanted pieces of wisdom to friends and family who began seeing remarkable results in themselves – most commonly stress and anxiety falling; and energy and happiness rising!
This passion for helping the busy people in her life transformed into a desire and commitment to empower workplaces and busy professionals to take control of their health so they can achieve their goals and get more out of life.
